Wherever your apartment is located in San Diego, there is probably a community college nearby. The San Diego Community College District offers three, two year colleges that award Associate's degrees, and six campuses addressing Continuing Education. And whatever your personal interest or goals may be, the District strives to serve its student population with an extensive array of courses.
San Diego City College is located just north of downtown near the airport and offers studies including Spanish, French or Arabic for the linguist, business computer courses for the techy, and pilates, tennis and dance for the exercise enthusiast. The list of available degree plans is too long here to list, so check out the college website at http://www.sdcity.edu/ for a full detail of the programs.
In addition, Vocational/Career and Technical programs at the school provide resources to assist students for immediate employment. Business studies, electronics, child development, nursing and photography, radio and television, plus many other opportunities are available.
As a full blown educational institution, SD City College offers complete student resources including counseling services, athletic programs, and financial aid for those who apply and qualify.
At Miramar College, you can begin planning and implementing your career in a place where teachers and students recognize you on this beautiful, small campus east of I-15, north of the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station. The college works closely with the business and education community in the city to assure that students get experience for their future careers. One of the visions of the college is "Student learning and success will be the focus of all we do." This is an indication of an exceptional school.
In addition to the basics of a degree plan that puts a student two years into a bachelor's degree; military education, technical careers and athletics are also offered at Miramar College. Financial aid, student services and a huge library are available.
Mesa College is located in eastern San Diego, just west of the intersection of I-805 and Hwy 163. Over 175 associate degrees in art and science and certificate programs are offered at this excellent community college. Day, evening and weekend classes are available, as well as online classes, with a carefully established program for transfer of hours to a four year college. Mesa College improves the school experience with student government, clubs, athletics and performance groups.
If you love to dance, you can try out for the Mesa College Dance Company, an awesome performance group that represents the college. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced dance, you can join the program for physical fitness and fun. The Mesa College website is http://www.sdmesa.edu/, for course schedules and more information.
