Many residents of San Diego apartments want to see the Giant Panda Bears brought to the zoo in 1987 by China. Since the two original panda bears were brought over, baby panda bears have been born to repopulate and increase the number of these adorable bears.

The San Diego Zoo is certainly a real zoo, unlike what you may call your apartment home, with mammals from African wild dogs and antelopes to wombats and zebras. Reptiles including Gila monsters, snakes, alligators and crocodiles inhabit the zoo here, as well as hundreds of birds in the beautiful aviary. A few favorite animal exhibits are the polar bear habitat where the bears play in freezing cold water among ice bergs, Apes including orangutans and siamangs cavorting around in a very cool looking African jungle, and the tiger habitat where jasmine and ginger were planted to give the San Diego Zoo a sensory smell of the jungle.
It is certainly a jungle at the San Diego zoo, so be sure to wear good walking shoes from your apartment. Many hills traverse the park, and awesome landscaping makes you feel you are thousands of miles away from San Diego apartments. Not to worry, there are plenty of concession stands and restaurants to get you through the day. And to top off the day, make sure you take a trip on the Skyfari gondola where you can see downtown San Diego and nearby Balboa Park in which the zoo is located.
